Know how much is left on your plan before it runs out.
Tactyn shows in the menu bar how much of each subscription window you have used, when it resets, and whether your current pace will hit the limit. Every number says where it came from.
ready Free with 1 provider · Pro with all (Mac only, for now)
Every subscription, in the menu bar.
A native helper ships inside Tactyn.app and runs as a login item. It keeps measuring even with Tactyn closed, so the number is already there when you open a terminal.
For each provider (Claude Code, Codex and Antigravity CLI) you see the percentage used in the window, when it resets, and the pace: “at this rate, it runs out in 1 h 40”. The icon stays neutral while your weekly pace is within the limit and shows the percentage, in amber or red, once it goes over.
Official, estimated or exact: every number says which.
The meter does not pretend to be precise. Every value is labeled with its origin:
- Official. Read from the provider itself. For Claude Code and Antigravity CLI, a hidden terminal in the helper runs
/usageevery 5 minutes and reads the screen. Codex already includes the official percentage in its local logs. - Estimated. Computed from the tokens Tactyn saw in local logs, adjusted by the last official reading. Between two official readings, this is what you see.
- Exact. API cost reported by the CLI itself, when it reports one.
The hidden terminal is separate from your work terminals, so readings keep coming even during a task.
Alerts you can configure
The defaults warn you when weekly usage reaches 80% and 95%, when the weekly pace goes past 100%, and when the 5-hour window reaches 95%. The alert is a macOS notification, once per window. The limits are editable.
On Pro, the maestro checks the limit before each task and pauses with a suggestion if the agent is already past it. It never switches agents on its own.
What about token cost?
On the “Usage and cost” screen (from the project bar or ⌘K) you see tokens and cost per project, mission and task. The value is the API equivalent, tokens times price, next to your subscription’s monthly share.
Prices live in an editable table. If a model has no price, Tactyn tells you instead of showing zero cost. When the CLI reports the exact cost, as OpenCode does, that value is what you see. This screen is part of Pro.
Where it reads from
- The local logs of Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode, watched for file changes.
- The
/usagescreen of Claude Code and Antigravity CLI, which do not write tokens to a file.
What it does not do
- It does not send your usage to any server.
- It does not switch agents on its own when the limit arrives.
What changes between Free and Pro?
On Free, the meter tracks 1 provider. On Pro, it tracks all of them and includes the alerts. The “Usage and cost” screen and the maestro pause are also Pro.
